Anyone in Glasgow who saw this one going round and was thinking about tomorrow needs the awkward part first, which is that it has gone. Daytime Disco and Northern Soul Events put the Northern Soul Day Party on for Saturday 17 October at Club Tropicana and Venga on Renfield Street, and the Fatsoma page now has it marked sold out, every tier.
- Date: Saturday 17 October 2026.
- Time: 3pm to 8pm, last entry 5pm.
- Venue: Club Tropicana & Venga, 7 Renfield Street, Glasgow G2 5EZ.
- Age: 18 and over.
- Tickets: sold out, with a waiting list still open on Fatsoma.
The FAQ on the ticket page says no extra tickets get released once it has sold out, so turning up at the door on Saturday on the off chance will not get anyone in, and the waiting list is the only official way left, which will only move if somebody with a ticket gives theirs back.
What The Tickets Cost Before They Went
£10 for the first release, £12.50 for the second and £15 for the third, each with a £2.50 booking fee on top, so the most anyone paid was £17.50 all in. There was a Big Group Package as well for groups of 10 or more at the first release price, which is the cheapest way any of this went.
If someone offers you a spare on Facebook for a lot more than £17.50, you will at least know what they paid for it in the first place.
Northern Soul In The Afternoon, Which Is Funny If You Know The Scene
The strapline on the poster is “keeping the all-nighter spirit alive… just earlier”, and anyone who knows the history will see why that is funny. Northern soul grew up in the 70s at all-nighters in the north of England, Wigan Casino being the famous one, where people danced from midnight until 8 in the morning to rare American soul records that had flopped in the States and found a second life over here. Keep the faith was the saying, and it is printed on the badge at the top of this poster.
This one finishes at 8pm instead of 8am. The organisers promise rare grooves, a touch of Motown and 60s soul, and a fabulous DJ line up, though no DJs have been named on the listing. It is billed as one for the dancers, so the spins, the backdrops and the talc on the floor are the point, and anyone going should probably wear shoes they can turn in.
Same Room As The Daytime Disco Nights
Club Tropicana and Venga is the Renfield Street venue Daytime Disco uses for its Glasgow afternoon parties, and the Northern Soul Day Party has been round the UK already. Edinburgh had one at the other Club Tropicana on Lothian Road back on 22 August, and the listings sites show Northern Soul Day Parties in Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Barnsley and Epsom as well.
For anyone who missed out on Saturday, the Northern Soul Events and Daytime Disco Facebook pages are where the next Scottish date will turn up first, and if you have got a ticket you cannot use, sell it on at what you paid, because there will be plenty of people on that waiting list.
