Hazel Soan Is Leading Five Days of Painting on Mykonos, With a Trip to Delos, From 23 November

mykonos painting workshop

If you are an art lover, you have come to the right article. The London watercolourist Hazel Soan, whom some readers will remember as the art expert on Channel 4’s Watercolour Challenge, is scheduled to lead a small group painting around Mykonos from 23 to 27 November, with a morning trip across to Delos. It’s one of the clearest advertised art events on the island for late November, and it falls in the last week of Delos’s regular visitor season. The organiser hasn’t said publicly whether the workshop has reached the 10 bookings it needs to go ahead, so contact Studio 56 Boutique before you book flights or a hotel you can’t cancel.

Soan trained at Camberwell College of Arts and Leicester College of Art, according to the organiser’s programme, and she also presented two series of Splash of Colour for Anglia TV. The holiday is run by Studio 56 Boutique, which takes groups of 10 to 15 people.

The Workshop Moves Between Chora, Delos and Ano Mera

Most days pair a visit with a painting session led by Soan, although the organiser says the order may change.

The page doesn’t set a skill level, but it does ask that everyone can walk for up to 20 minutes on cobbled streets, and it suggests a less demanding workshop for anyone who can’t.

Places Cost $2,099, and the Deposit Deadline Has Passed

The organiser prices the full ticket at $2,099 in US dollars, or $1,499 for a companion who doesn’t paint. Both include the welcome reception, ground transport on the itinerary and the farewell dinner, though the companion ticket leaves out the classes, and flights, hotels, most meals and painting materials are extra. Deposits were due by 26 June and the balance by 26 July, although a separate deposit page on the organiser’s site gives 26 July as the early booking deadline, so check which one applies if you’re hoping for a discount. The organiser describes deposits as non-refundable, and the workshop only goes ahead once at least 10 places have sold.

The Municipal Gallery Is the Easiest Art Stop Without a Workshop

If you’d rather look than paint, the Municipal Art Gallery “Maria Inglesi” in Chora is where to begin. The building dates from the middle of the 19th century and was the island’s first public clinic for around 50 years, the Municipality of Mykonos says, and it has been a gallery since the 1980s, with entrances on both Matogianni Street and Kalogera Street. Its most recent big show was Erieta Attali’s photography exhibition Archipelago of Memory | From Delos to the Aegean, which ran from 23 August to 27 September across four venues on Mykonos and Delos. We couldn’t find a confirmed exhibition there for November, so check with the gallery before you walk over.

The same gallery hosted CYCLES: The Gathering from 17 October to 1 November, a free group exhibition that came back for a second year under the artistic direction of Jasmine Orozco, island24 reported. It has finished for 2026, though anyone planning next autumn could keep an eye out for a third edition.

Two commercial galleries are worth checking as well. Rarity Gallery on Kalogera Street has shown contemporary art since 1994, and its website lists a group show running from 1 May 2026 to 31 January 2027, though it’s still best to contact the gallery about November opening hours before making a special trip. HOFA Gallery at Panachrantou 19, which also has spaces in London and Los Angeles, shows established and emerging international artists, and ArtRabbit lists its hours as Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm, although that listing is several years old, so check that the gallery is open in November.

Delos Closes to Ordinary Visits on 1 December

Delos is the reason to travel this month rather than next. The archaeological site and museum are open every day in November, but from 1 December to 31 March the site closes to ordinary visits, and the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades says entry outside the season is possible only by written request. Delos Tours runs scheduled boats from the Old Port in Mykonos Town until 30 November, weather permitting, with a return ticket costing €25, and it suggests buying tickets at its kiosk beside the boats half an hour before you sail.

SiteNovember hoursTickets
Delos archaeological site and museumDaily, 8am to 4pm, last entry 3.40pm€20 full, €10 reduced
Archaeological Museum of Mykonos8.30am to 3.30pm, closed on Tuesdays€5 full, €3 reduced

Out in Ano Mera, the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani was founded in 1542, and inside there’s a carved and gilded Baroque altarpiece made by Florentine artists in 1775 and an iconostasis that runs 10.20 metres across all three aisles, as its Wikipedia entry records.

A Villa Suits Families Staying Longer Than the Workshop

Accommodation isn’t included in the workshop price, and the organiser has arranged group rates instead. Which option makes sense depends on who’s coming with you:

Whichever you choose, the organiser advises against booking anything you can’t get your money back on until the workshop is confirmed.

Getting there takes a change of plane in November, because easyJet’s direct route from Gatwick is seasonal and FlightConnections shows the next flights from March. UK travellers will be going via Athens, which the organiser puts at around 45 minutes from Mykonos by air.

Go in the Week of 23 November

Go for the week of 23 November whether or not you paint, because the workshop and the last scheduled boats to Delos both fall in it, and once December starts the site is closed to ordinary visits until April. Confirm the workshop, the gallery hours and your villa or hotel first.
