So what are you up to this weekend? What are you doing? What does your body and mind need? That’s how the hosts put it, and it’s a fair question for a Saturday.

Inner Ceremony Journey runs this evening from 5.30pm to 8.30pm at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre in Moseley. It’s a small group, gently guided, and it moves through connection, embodiment, expression and deep rest over the three hours. The two women holding it are Dionne Roberts, known locally as The Sleep Whisperer, and Izabela Turowska-Lawska, a ceremonial guide who works with somatic presence and heart centred ritual.

Come As You Are, With Or Without Makeup, In A Good Mood Or A Bad One

The invitation is in their own words. Come as you are, with or without makeup, trousers or sweats, whether you’re in a good mood or a bad mood. Whatever is going on in your body or your mind, you get to arrive however you’re feeling. The point of a ceremony, they say, is that it offers a transformation, and it does that by creating an arc. You arrive, you travel through the arc, and you come out the other side.

The Evening Runs As An Arc, From Arriving To Stillness And Back

To help you through it, there’s ceremonial cacao and a botanical elixir, listed as cacao and mushroom tinctures. The hosts describe this as helping you find what’s going on underneath, the thing you haven’t been listening to, brought up to the surface where you can see it. From there you move through it by expressing it, through movement, sound and voice, with other healing practices alongside, some old, some that are in fashion.

Then the arc bends and it brings you to a moment of stillness. Sometimes people are uncomfortable in stillness, the hosts say, and that’s why you’re guided into it rather than left there. This is the Yoga Nidra part, a process of deep, deep rest, before they slowly bring you back, first into your body and then into the room, so you can carry it out into the world around you again.

Each person’s journey is their own. You’re invited to move at your own pace and honour your boundaries throughout.

Who Is Holding It

  • Dionne Roberts brings the Yoga Nidra and the sound. Her work is about rest, nervous system regulation and letting presence replace performance.
  • Izabela Turowska-Lawska brings the ceremonial side, creating spaces where people are invited to soften, listen to their bodies and honour their own wisdom.

Together they describe the evening as a journey inward, held through an arc into ceremony and back home to your heart, your body and the present. If this calls to you, they’d be honoured to hold the space for you. Come as you are. Leave feeling steady, spacious and renewed.
