The country got its hottest June on record, three red warnings in a row and a Norfolk village posting 37.7°C, and while everyone was queuing for the lido Harry Styles was playing Wembley twelve nights running, Serena Williams was walking back onto Centre Court at forty four, England were topping a World Cup group in the American heat and a horse called Ten Bob Tony was going in at 50/1 and ruining accumulators all over Berkshire, and that is before anyone brings up the cricket.
