A Free Regenerative Food Festival Arrives in Chiswick on 24 October

Chiswick Back Common hosts the first West London Biodiversity & Regenerative Food Festival on Saturday 24 October, running 10:30am to 4pm, and it costs nothing to walk in.

Tickets go through Eventbrite but they are free. The site is at 21 Fishers Lane, W4 1YB, a short walk from Turnham Green.

What Is Actually Being Sold

Growers, bakers, makers, street food vendors, crafters, charities and community groups, with the whole thing built around regenerative and organic production rather than general food market fare.

The exhibitor categories the organisers have published:

• Organic gardening, heritage seeds and plants
• Sustainable and natural fibres
• Community engagement in the natural world
• Fermented and preserved foods
• Local artisanal crafts

Heritage seeds and plants in late October is good timing. That is planting season for garlic, broad beans and overwintering onions, so anyone with a garden or an allotment is arriving at the right point in the year rather than being sold tomato seedlings in a heatwave.

Local Growers and Charities Can Get a Free Pitch

This is the part worth passing on if you know anyone running a community garden or a small growing project in the area.

Regenerative Foods are offering free or discounted pitches to local growers, local charities and local community groups. Applications go through their events page.

They are also still recruiting street food vendors with a sustainability focus, which means the trader list is not closed yet and the lineup published closer to the date will look different from anything you can see now.

For commercial traders, a third party festival directory lists £120 for a catering pitch and £80 for a standard stall, with sponsorship from £50, and puts expected attendance at 2,000 to 4,000. Those numbers are not on the organiser’s own site, so treat them as a guide.

Check the Time Before You Go

One listings site has this running 12:00 to 19:30. Both the organiser’s own page and the Eventbrite listing say 10:30 to 16:00.

Go with the organiser. An evening finish in late October would mean closing in the dark on an unlit common, which is not how this is set up.
