Jill Scott Is At Brixton Academy Tonight, And This Is The Date That Nearly Did Not Exist

Jill Scott plays the O2 Academy Brixton tonight, Monday 28 September, on the To Whom This May Concern 2026 Tour. Doors at 19:00, curfew at 23:00, 211 Stockwell Road. Live Nation UK are promoting it, and VIP packages were going through the venue’s own page.

Now, this one is worth knowing the back story on. Brixton wasn’t in the original plan.

The Show Was Added Because The Others Sold Out

Scott had already announced 2 nights at the Royal Albert Hall along with Birmingham and Manchester. Those moved fast, and the Brixton date was added on 19 March in response to demand.

We’ve all been going on about how hard it is to get into a London show at a sensible price. This one is the cheapest room on the UK leg, and it exists only because the other rooms filled. Anyone who missed the Albert Hall on-sale ended up better off.

What She Is Touring

To Whom This May Concern is her sixth studio album, out in February on Blues Babe Records, her own independent label. It’s her first studio record in over a decade, and Beautiful and Pressha both came out ahead of it in January.

The promoters describe the run as residency-style performances with live band instrumentation at the heart of it. That means a real band on stage, not tracks, which matters for a singer whose whole reputation rests on what she does live.

Where She Came From, In Case You Only Know The Hits

She started out as a spoken-word poet in Philadelphia. Questlove found her, and she co-wrote You Got Me for The Roots, which won a Grammy in 2000. Her own debut, Who Is Jill Scott?, landed the same year. Three Grammys in total, and a run through neo-soul that not many of her contemporaries are still touring on.

The current tour runs to 36 dates worldwide. It started in the States, and South Africa has been mentioned as coming.

Get there early. The curfew is 23:00 and Brixton holds to it, so a late arrival on a night like this costs you songs rather than just a queue. Brixton tube is on the Victoria line, a couple of minutes from the door.
