Funkagenda Reunion Brings RatPack Back to Bristol’s Circuit on Saturday, With Last Entry at 7pm
DJ Lipmaster Mark and MC Evenson Allen formed RatPack in 1985, and according to their Resident Advisor biography, they became the UK rave scene’s first DJ and MC team almost by accident, when a booked DJ failed to turn up at one of their warehouse parties and Mark took over the decks while Evenson grabbed the mic. They’re the act TwoFour Events has brought back for Funkagenda: The Reunion, a one-off day of house music and classics at Circuit Bristol on Saturday 7 November.
The party runs from 3pm to 10pm, and last entry is at 7pm, which the Skiddle listing states plainly even though the promoter’s own social posts leave it out. It’s strictly 18+, and Circuit asks everyone to show ID on the way in, so take it whatever age you look.
Three Rooms Are Planned, With RatPack in the Main One
Craig Brown and Dave K are the main support behind RatPack, with Cridge and The Disruptors also on the Skiddle bill. On the Eventbrite page, Duvet Vous is down to host Room 2 and FLUFF the terrace, although the event’s Facebook artwork calls FLUFF’s space the Pink Room, so check the signs on the night. Expect house, deep house and old skool, and if you knew RatPack from the early nineties, “Searching For My Rizla” is the one most people will be waiting for. No set times have been published.
Circuit itself sits in The South Buildings on Canon’s Road, on the Harbourside, and holds 1,500 people. The venue’s own page also mentions a private smoking area, a ball pit and a cloakroom that may carry an extra charge on the night.
Tickets Can’t Be Refunded, and Prices Vary by Listing
Ticket prices differ a lot depending on which listing site you look at, which usually means different releases or packages, so the safest figure is the one you see at checkout on Eventbrite or Skiddle. Eventbrite marks the event as no refunds, so only buy if you’re sure you can go.
The Bambalan After Party Needs Checking Before You Plan Around It
Skiddle lists an after party at Bambalan from 10pm, and the poster says it runs until 3am. That finish time is the part to treat with caution, because Bambalan’s own website gives its normal Saturday closing time as midnight.
| Circuit Bristol | Bambalan | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | The South Buildings, Canon’s Road, BS1 5UH | Beacon Tower, Colston Street, BS1 4XE |
| Times | 3pm to 10pm, last entry 7pm | From 10pm, finish time unconfirmed |
| Status | Confirmed by Skiddle and Eventbrite | Listed by Skiddle; separate entry terms not published |
A day ticket for Circuit isn’t confirmed to get you into Bambalan as well, so ask TwoFour Events before you count on it.
Get to Canon’s Road by 6pm. That leaves an hour before the door closes, and with no running order out yet, it’s the only way to be sure you’re inside when RatPack come on.
