Greipur Hjaltason Brings The Icebreaker UK Tour To Bristol’s Hen & Chicken On Tuesday
Greipur Hjaltason is the Icelandic comedian a lot of people will know from their phone before they know his name, because he is @greipjokes, the dad on Instagram talking very calmly about volcanoes, elves and his children. On Tuesday he is in Bristol, at the Hen & Chicken on North Street, for his first ever UK tour, and the show starts at 8pm on Tuesday 20 October, with doors at 7:15pm and tickets at £30.
- Date: Tuesday 20 October 2026.
- Doors: 7:15pm.
- Show: 8pm, running about 75 minutes, so out by around 9:15pm.
- Venue: Hen & Chicken, 210 North Street, Southville, Bristol BS3 1JF.
- Tickets: £30 early bird, through hahcomedy.
Who Greipur Hjaltason Is, If You Only Know The Videos
He was named Iceland’s Comedian of the Year in 2020, and he makes the joke about it himself on the poster, that the competition up north was not exactly fierce. Iceland has about 400,000 people, so he is probably right, and it is a good sign of the sort of humour you are getting, dry and quite hard on himself.
The internet is where it took off. His videos are deadpan and short, about parenting, marriage and living on a small island where the weather is always doing something strange, and the numbers have gone up fast this year:
| When he played Amsterdam in March | Now | |
|---|---|---|
| 1.4 million followers | over 2 million | |
| TikTok | over 800,000 | over 800,000 |
| Views | over 1 billion | over 1 billion |
That is about 600,000 new Instagram followers in around 7 months, which is a lot of people deciding they like an Icelandic dad’s opinions on elves. He has also been a guest on the Comedy Roundtable podcast, which is where some UK fans first heard him talk for longer than a minute.
What A 75 Minute Show From Him Looks Like
Stand-up from someone you know through 60 second clips is a different thing, and the tour blurb promises storytelling more than one-liners. Expect parenting, relationships, elves, Nordic stoicism, and the Icelandic habit of shrugging at a volcano. The show is in English, the same as his videos, and The Icebreaker Tour already went round Europe earlier this year, with an extra show added on the night at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam in March.
The Hen & Chicken suits this sort of night. It is a pub in Southville with a performance room upstairs that has been one of Bristol’s comedy rooms for years, so it is small, close to the stage, and if you sit in the front row, he will probably talk to you.
The Rest Of The UK Tour After Bristol

Bristol is early in the run, and the rest of the dates we could find are close together:
- Cambridge, Town & Gown, Wednesday 21 October, early show at 7pm.
- Manchester, Engine House at Chorlton Mill, Thursday 22 October, 8:45pm.
- Liverpool, Hot Water Comedy Club, Friday 23 October, 8:30pm.
- Glasgow, The Glee Club, Sunday 25 October, 8:30pm.
- London, Fire, Vauxhall, Thursday 29 October, 8:30pm.
So that is 6 cities in 10 days. Cambridge has theirs listed as the early show, which suggests a later one on the same night as well.
Getting A Ticket Before Tuesday
The poster and the Facebook listing both send people to hahcomedy.com, and the £30 early bird is the only price shown. Check hahcomedy.com before heading to North Street, because a small upstairs room does not take many people and a sell-out at a venue this size can happen in the last few days. Are you going? We would love to know if he is as calm in person as he is on Instagram.
